As this academic season concludes, I’d like to share the most valuable lessons I’ve gained from each of my three courses this semester:
Global Consulting
Always define the objectives first—this cannot be overstated.
Remember your role: you’re an advisor, not the decision-maker. Final decisions rest with the client.
A linear process approach helps focus on key questions at each stage, ensuring nothing is overlooked.
This course highlighted the importance of structured process management. I’ve come to realize that key insights often reside with the client, and a consultant’s role is to facilitate their discovery.
Strategy in a Competitive World
Choose your strategic approach: either prioritize low costs with large-scale production or focus on adding value within a niche market.
Avoid attempting everything at once—be precise and deliberate.
Strike a balance between improving existing technology and investing in innovation.
I find the last point particularly crucial for established companies navigating today’s fast-evolving markets. Balancing these priorities will undoubtedly remain a central focus in my future work.
Financial Value Creation For Leaders
Compare like with like—context matters.
To make faster decisions, develop or adapt templates for project evaluation.
Risk-hedging isn’t just about financial instruments like options; it extends to effective procurement, production planning, and sales strategies.
Given the ongoing war in Ukraine, the study of risk-hedging strategies feels especially timely and relevant. I plan to strengthen my financial evaluation skills through practical case studies and further explore this critical topic.
This semester has been an incredible journey of learning and growth. As I look ahead, I’m eager to apply these lessons in both academic and professional settings. Thank you for following along, and I hope my reflections resonate with you!
